Every year, Monteleone di Spoleto, Umbrian village by the remarkable natural heritage, celebrates its patron saint with the ritual of “Farro di San Nicola.” According to tradition, the saint, through Monteleone and struck by the poverty of its inhabitants, he would donate the spelled to the poor of the country. Even today, on the occasion of the anniversary, the symbolic gesture is repeated with the distribution of spelled blessed to the entire population.
From 5 to 9 December the city hosts a number of events: celebrations, wine tasting with local gastronomic delights conferences, music, theater and the new edition of the Mostra Mercato del Farro DOP and typical products of the mountain.
The event will finally closes with the “Coming of Focone” to commemorate the passage of Our Lady of Loreto with the lighting of a large fire.
